Happy Friday!

Friday! Finally.

I'm so excited for this weekend. This is the first weekend being in my new place where things should feel a bit more normal. The first month in was all houseguests. Last weekend I had the place to myself. And though I enjoyed it all, I'm really ready to get back to the same old routine.

Tonight, two of my girl friends are coming over for dinner, drinks and catching up. I can't wait to see them - it's been too long. And tomorrow, my roommate Beth and I are going out on the town to blow off some steam. It's been awhile since we have been out together, so it's definitely time to get back out there. We always get ourselves into trouble, but it's always fun. Never a dull moment.

Anyone else up to no good this weekend? ;)

happy weekend!

Happy first weekend in October everyone!  Wow, September flew right by, didn't it?

Our new apartment played host to many guests this past month, so I have to say it's a bit bittersweet to have the place all to my lonesome this weekend - not to mention most of my friends are out of town.

It's nice to finally have some peace and quiet. I really felt like I was just floating along this past month, fighting hard to keep up the pace. But, right now, it's just a little too quiet. A better transition from feast to famine would have been nice :)

Hope you all have a fabulous almost-fall weekend.

And, don't forget, the giveaway ends tomorrow!

ouch.

Oh Friday, I wish I could be as excited about you as usual, but this week you are the eve of moving day part two. Oh, the soreness.

Moving into our new place this past Tuesday did not go as seamlessly as the roomies and I hoped (read: three woman should not try to move themselves without some sort of truck. Next time - note to self - shell out the cash to hire movers.)

It seemed like a good idea to do it on our own - we all always have - but we really didn't anticipate the troubles of getting Beth's stuff out... down her spiral staircase. All I will say is bruises in odd places, one messed up ankle, and a few almost spills. Such fun :)

So, I'm hoping I can rest a little tonight before we head over to my former place tomorrow to grab the rest of the big furniture.

I can't wait to be settled in so we can enjoy our new lovely place.

Hope you all have a great holiday weekend!!

friday, you are my favorite

LOVE LOVE LOVE Friday. Best feeling in the world.

This week absolutely flew by, which is fine by me because that means I'm that much closer to moving into my new place. The apartment is amazing, the roommates are tolerable (and by tolerable I mean also amazing!). And I am so so excited for a new start. This past year has been sort of a rough one personally that involved many changes and I can't wait to move on from all that business for good!

Plans this weekend, friends?

I just had a great lunch with an old friend. Tonight I'm going to my future roomies current place for her moving out party (a preface to our new apartment party). And the rest of the weekend is clear... plenty of time for couch hunting for our new place and hopefully some play time outside - August is almost over. I can't believe it.

Happy weekend!

Friday!

Well ... I was doing a really good job of posting consistently...

But this week I've been feeling a bit under the weather and haven't had much motivation to post. But next week, I promise some good stuff is coming! Pinky swear.

Any good plans this weekend, friends?

Tonight I'm hitting up the nats game (that is if another monsoon doesn't hit DC) and tomorrow I'm seeing a band I used to cover for a local paper - they are playing a little place in Arlington. Should be a good one!

See you next week for some regular posting :)

home sweet home

So happy today!

Tonight my friend (and soon-to-be housemate!) Beth and I are heading into my hometown of Frederick for dinner at Volt. We've been to this glorious place before and eaten in the lounge, but it has taken us just about a year to actually snag a table in the dining room on a weekend night. So, needless to say, I can't wait. Delicious food in my favorite downtown with a good friend. Doesn't get any better.

Happy Friday all. Any good plans?

I'm back!

Soooooo I have definitely been MIA ... for a LONG time. But that ends today!

Let's see if I can catch you up on where I've been. The super condensed short version: felt bogged down by stuff at work. And the newly single life has been interesting and busy. Then I hurt my foot. Then I've been trying to find an apartment. Then there were some family health problems. Then one of my best friends came back from India after a year there. Then I had to go to New York City :) Then I had vacation. Then I decided it's good to slowww down.

All in all, things were a bit hectic and trying to find the time to focus here was difficult. But, now, I'm back and rested and ready to blog again. Stay tuned for a full post on Monday.

Hope all of you are doing well - I missed you so much xo

Happy Friday friends.

Friday!

My favorite time of the week is here... the start of the weekend yipppeeeee.

This weekend is especially special though. My friend Amy is coming down from New York City and we will be spending the weekend in the U Street area with our friend Liz.

All three of us have had big changes in our lives recently. We are all newly single, among other things. And whether we were the dumper or the dumpee, none of us are really happy about this development. This isn't where we pictured ourselves, you know? But when it comes down to it - it's the best possible place for all of us to be.

So, I'd say it's inevitable. Us chickees really need to let our hair down and have some fun!

So excited.

What are your plans? Anything good going on?

relief.

Hooray! It's Friday. Finally.

I can just feel the stress leaving my body.

I cannot, I repeat CANNOT, wait until the summer months officially arrive. Work just seems to get crazier and crazier and longer and longer. I'm really longing for the days of less to do.

This weekend should be a good one though. Dinner at Masa 14 with my girlie Liz tonight. Then heading over to Baltimore - it's been too long since I've been.

...aaand I hear it's supposed to be nice out (but I'll believe that when I see it!)

Have a great weekend! xo

Yay Friday!

Whewww.. the weekend is here! This has been the longest, weirdest week ever.

First I thought it was Thursday on Tuesday, then I thought it was Tuesday on Wednesday. Bleh. What a hectic week!

So this weekend I think I just need some down time. I have some things that need to get done, but the rest of the weekend will be spent enjoying this summery, warm weather we are having. My plan is to be parked outside with the pup during any and all free moments!

What are you up to this weekend?? Hope it's something good :)

I ♥ NYC

Guess where I'm headed?!!!!

Be back Monday!

Hopefully when I get back, I can catch up on all of you! I have seriously fallen behind on, well, everything! SO busy.

Have a great weekend all. Hope you all have exciting plans involving this wonderful weather we are getting :)

Friday, I love you

Just like every other Friday.... so happy!

I live for Fridays, especially when these work weeks from hell start to become more frequent.

This weekend will be exactly what I need.

Tomorrow, a few friends and I are headed to a Virginia winery for a day of wine tasting for my friend Diana's birthday. She hates celebrating her own birthday. So we came up with this brilliant plan in an effort to coax her into celebrating herself for a second. Success! But it's supposed to pour down rain. BAD. Lucky for us, there is a pretty good-sized indoor area. It might be fun to play in the rain a little though.

Then, on Sunday, a friend and I are trying to sneak over to another friend's place to help out with her new little bundle. Her beautiful baby boy has only been around a few weeks, but she needs a break and we'd love to help her get some time for herself.

Happy weekend all! See you Monday :)

Sometimes when it rains, you just have to let it pour. And sometimes you have to just have to jump in and get soaking wet. It is then that beauty is formed - Stacey Gardner

Happy Friday all!

So happy the weekend is finally here, aren't you? This has been one stressful week (a far cry from last week's stranded in the house/no work/no play snowmageddon).

So I'm happy to finally let loose and blow off some steam.

Tonight I'm headed to Marvin for a girly date with a friend of a friend :)

And, tomorrow is my friend Beth's birthday, so a group of us are headed to Bistro Cacao for a romantic French dinner and night out on the town. It's going to be a good one! Perhaps even slightly epic.

Any exciting plans this weekend?

P.S. Check out my brand new blog Bang Your Head - I hope you like!

Happy Friday all!

After being stranded in the house in my PJs most of this week and then stranded in my car for four hours today trying to get home from work, I'm beyond ready to get out of here this weekend.

Tomorrow is my friends' annual The Ones You Love party - an annual Valentines get-together of our group of guys and girls. I can't wait to see everyone. It's always a fun time.

What are you up to this weekend? Let's hear it :)

happy friday!

sooo Soooo SOOOO happy that the weekend is finally here. With all this SNOWpocalypse talk here in DC, I'm anxious to be in my own house and away from all the PANIC!

These are the times I miss Syracuse winters. No joke.

Have a good weekend all. Play in the snow :)

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday all!

I'm SO happy it's the weekend, aren't you?

This was o-fficially the week from hell for me - at work, that is.  The State of the Union address doesn't make your job easier when you work in a policy news bureau, that's for sure.

But it's ok. I survived. AND this weekend is my birthday, so I will be partaking in some fun this Saturday night (so excited!)

We did get a bit of distraction today, too...

We threw a surprise baby shower for one of my coworkers. It was so much fun. His wife is having twins and is on bed rest several months early, so we wanted to show him some support as he is incredibly stressed! We all chipped in to get him a few gifts, cheesesteaks (wiz wits to be exact - he is from Philly, so it had to be done) and decorated his cube while he was in a meeting. It was so worth his reaction! He was so excited/nervous/surprised.

Love it!

Have a great weekend everyone!

a cabin in the woods

SO happy it’s the weekend. After a lot of stress and hard work, we finally had our office holiday, ahem, post-holiday holiday party last night at Bourbon.

The party was a huge success (a far cry from last year's night of complete debauchery). But after a long day of work yesterday and then a long night of party, I’m very much looking forward to visiting my bed this evening, so I can attempt to engage in at least a little bit of fun these next couple days.

For DC/MD/VAers looking for something to do this weekend: Paradise Springs Winery is having their official grand opening this Saturday. Enjoy some wine and a little musical entertainment courtesy of The Winn Brothers.

My friend Beth and I attended the soft opening last weekend at the 19th-century log cabin, renovated 50 years ago by a protégé of Frank Lloyd Wright. The roughly 40-minute drive out was surprisingly well worth it. And the flight of eight vinos was amazing from beginning to end, made all the better by our surroundings - the house’s dimly lit cellar bar.

But what really did it for me was spending the day in a quaint little cabin in the woods, with some good company. A great escape from the sounds of the city.

I suggest you check it out. And perhaps bring a date. It’s too cozy to go alone.

Happy Friday all.

Friday, I love you....

So happy that the weekend is finally here, though it really was a good week.

Yesterday, we did a Pollyanna-like gift exchange at the office, where we spread around hilarious gifts and gorged ourselves on delicious candy and treats. I was happily sick to my stomach the rest of the day :)

This weekend I have tons to do, but much of it is top secret ... Parties to be had. Gifts to be bought. Holiday treats to be made.

But, it is supposed to snow. ALOT. Hopefully this will not hamper my plans, too much.

What are you up to this weekend?

rags and run

Ever get the urge to just run away - to get in your car and start driving, no turning back... ?

I never knew that feeling until just a couple days ago when, so quickly, my world started closing in on me.

It's time for some big changes, and it starts today. It's time to focus on me and what I want, rather than give everything I have for someone else.

Plan number one: make this weekend a great one. And perhaps start in on some DIY's that I have been promising for so long. I haven't made anything in awhile and I think it's just the de-stressor I need :)

Hope you have a great weekend, too.

xoxo

P.S. Don't forget about the giveaway - only a few more days!

Happy Friday!

{c0rnporn}

Ahhhhhhh this time next week I will be swimming in the gulf! So. Very. Needed.

Things have been incredibly hectic (still!). I was, however, able to find some time to dedicate to blogging. BUT, then, my blogger completely pooped out on me. I couldn't post, couldn't save as draft. And even more annoying, I couldn't comment ANYWHERE. (FYI this is via the web at work, since that's where I am most of the day. I usually tackle my reader and posting on my lunch hour). So I had to find the time to start up the blogging again at home, which in my case, is much harder than it sounds. But I'm making time as best I can, because I miss everybody A TON! I feel so disconnected...

P.S. Thanks to Ela for checking in on me! I'm still reading you everyday - but apparently I'm on a commenting hiatus :(

Happy Friday everyone!! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Any exciting plans??
