new york state of mind

I'm back!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend - I sure did!

I traveled up to glorious New York City for a long weekend with my friend Amy.

I always love feeling the buzz of the city - so different than DC - and it was amazing.

We spent a lot of time walking the city: Union Square, SoHo, Upper East all on Saturday.

And even though we were exhausted, we were able to spend a moment at the Tim Burton exhibit at the MoMA, which was absolutely one of my favorite parts of the weekend. I know Burton has a crazy creative mind, but I was completely unaware of his artwork. I fell in love with his black and white ink and pen drawings (above: Untitled/Trick or Treat). The detail was incredible. We also got to see the full Edward Scissorhands costume. Such an experience!

Saturday night I had a beautiful outdoor dinner with a good friend and then headed out on the town with a few of my favorites, who are trying their hardest to get me to move back up to the city (enter the Harass Anna Until She Moves Back to New York Club). I haven't laughed that much in awhile.

Sunday was a little bit more relaxing, thankfully (I was exhausted!) We headed up to the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx for the Orchid Show.  It was interesting to be around such beautiful flowers and foreign trees in the city. And it made for some great pictures.

The night winded down with some tasty Italian food and an early bed time, so I could head back to DC Monday morning.

A beautiful weekend all in all. Has me craving that town again.

Good thing I will be back there again come summer :)

Happy Monday!
