I am incredibly excited about this new series by Dutch artist Jacob de Graaf.

An artist living and working in York, UK, de Graaf challenged himself to create at least one portrait a day for a year, under a strict set of rules. He is free in technique and material as long as the resulting work exists in a physical manner (i.e. no digital art), is uploaded to his blog Daily Portrait by midnight each day, and excuses are only welcome as the result of death, serious illness, or natural disaster.

Amazing. Reminds me a little of the portrait work I did in high school, which I really need to start up again... perhaps in the form of blog? Something to think about!

DIY:

1. Find an old-school vinyl record sleeve with a nice headshot of your fave musical icon (The Boss, Debbie Harry or Cyndi Lauper will do oh so nicely).
2. Put the sleeve in front of your face.
3. Strike a pose.
4. Get someone to snap your photo.
5. You've officially been Sleevefaced.

Oh how I love We Have Lasers, a photo blog paying tribute to the ever-so-natural combination of photography and lasers.

The site captures those few glorious years (in the late 80s, early 90s) where every kid begged their parents to drop some extra coin on the highly-coveted laser backdrop for their school portrait. I wish I had my lasered pic from 2nd grade handy. I'm totally rocking a side pony and oversized sweater. Classic :)

I've touched on this before, but I'm a real sucker for the successful marriage of art and fashion, especially when it moves beyond simple undertones and meets head on.

Evil-genius Nancy Jimenez has dedicated her blog to making these sort of Fendi-Joan Miro connections.

Seriously, this might be my new daily. I can't look away.
