Wise-guy lexicographer
Paul Dickson has the type of talent that should win him bar bets the world over. Knowing more ways to call someone “drunk” than anyone else in the world, he made the
Guinness World Record for cataloguing 2,231 terms -- beating out no less than Benjamin Franklin, who published his own
list back in 1736.
Dickson's achievement has been proven in his new book Drunk:
The Definitive Drinker’s Dictionary, released this week, which contains 3,000 super entertaining synonyms (and illustrations!) for “drunk.” Zipped. Irrigated. Beer-soaked. Gone to the devil. Sea faring. The list goes on and on.
Too funny.
