With a vote of 62-34, the Senate passed a bill today allowing full voting representation for the District inside the House of Reps., pretty much ensuring the measure will become law! A bitter court battle looms over its constitutionality, but advocates of the bill are claiming victory nonetheless.
This has been a long time coming; I hope it sticks! It's only fair, right? If the residents of U.S. territories/properties (that aren't fully represented) don't have to put up the bank, then why should Washingtonians? Full representation would perhaps validate some of those tax dollars and hopefully - and finally! - put to rest this decades-long struggle.
